Die or Deny

Keep me by Your saving power
From that dark and dreadful hour
When the masses will deny
Their Lord, for whom they fear to die

Strengthen that which You began.
Hold me in Your loving hand.
I entrust my soul to You,
For that which I myself can’t do.

I have not come to save my life,
Defending self when faced with strife.
What good is it, the world to gain,
Yet stand before the Lord in shame?

For what we do He will reward.
Did we deny the Sovereign Lord?

Scriptural basis:

"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Do You Want to Know Him?
If you want to know Jesus personally, you can. It all begins when you repent and believe in Jesus.  Do you know what God's Word, the Bible says?

“Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.’” (Mar 1:14b-15).  He preached that we must repent and believe.

Don't Look Back

Don’t look back
To all you’ve left
In the world;
It’s all a mess.

God will come
To smite the ones,
Who stayed to sin
And did not run.

You don’t want
To be a part
Of His wrath,
When it starts!

So don’t look back.
Keep looking toward
The prize ahead,
And Christ your Lord.

Keep your eyes
Upon that goal
To win the race;
Then you’ll be whole.

Tucked away
In Jesus’ arms,
You will be safe
And kept from harm.

Don’t look back
And think that’s fine,
Because God has
Surely drawn the line.

You’re safe as long
As both your eyes
Are fixed on Truth
And not on lies

Fixed upon
Christ’s lovely face
You’ll press on
With strength and grace

Pressing on
Straight to the place
Where God said you
Would be kept safe

This poem is based on the true biblical account of when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, as recorded in Genesis 19. "Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven, and He overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. But his wife, from behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt." (Gen 19:24-26).  The photo is a geological formation overlooking the Dead Sea, called Lot's Wife (from Wikimedia Commons).  

But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." (Luk 9:62)

For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, "A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT," and, "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire." (2Pe 2:20-22)
