He Loved Us First

We all deserved less
Than the King’s very best,
The pitiful wretches we are.
But salvation prevailed
When mankind had failed
And turned from the Lord in their hearts.

His mercy was present
While suffering unpleasant
Was the will of the Father to save.
Though beaten and bruised,
As our Lord was accused,
Only forgiveness He gave.

He took up our blame
And the burden of shame.
His blood was enough to atone.
While the offerings for sin
Could not cleanse from within,
The cross was enough on its own.

Christ made intercession
And bore our transgression,
The object of public disgrace.
People did not esteem
Jesus, sent to redeem
But whipped Him and spat in His face.

The One they despised
Was their Savior disguised,
Dressed in the average attire.
He wore not a crown
And possessed no renown.
Why would such a King they desire?

Wounds were inflicted
On Jesus, convicted
With charges of false accusation.
But His love overpowered
Each sorrowful hour
Simply for human salvation.

We all should be grateful
While others were hateful
Of how He loved even the worst.
Holy and blameless,
His white garments stainless,
He loved every one of us first.

Author's note The poems in this blog were written by my children, ages seven through fifteen . The "Why This Blog" post explains how the Lord inspired these poems in answer to a prayer during illness. Please also see America, Turn Back to God. I also recommend visiting my children's blog, A Brush with Life, where you will also find beautiful art they have drawn for the glory of God. You can access my complete blog directory at "Writing for the Master."  Now I'd like to ask a very important question.

Do You Want to Know Him?
If you want to know Jesus personally, you can. It all begins when you repent and believe in Jesus.  Do you know what God's Word, the Bible says?

“Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.’” (Mar 1:14b-15).  He preached that we must repent and believe.

Please see my explanation of this in my post called "Do You Want to Know Jesus?"

Flaming Sword

Lord Jesus, You are El Gibor
You are a mighty Man of War
Arise now with your flaming sword
Eternal praise shall be yours forever more.

-- Anonymous adult

Scriptural Basis:
The prophet Isaiah prophesied the birth of Jesus seven hundred years in advance.  He referred to Jesus, the Son, as “Mighty God,” saying, "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." (Isa 9:6).

That term “Mighty God” in the original Hebrew is El Gibor, one of God’s names.  It can also mean, "God-man" or "Mighty Man of war."  So I ask you, my friend, to whom does the term “us” refer in this passage, where it says, “a child is born to us” and “a Son will be given to us”?  Is it the prophet and his wife? Is it the nation of Israel?  Who do you think had a Son, called “El Gibor”?  The Hebrew word “El” means God.  Only One Person is worthy of that name, and that is the Son of God Himself.

Jesus is Risen

Jesus is risen.
He is alive.
Do not say ‘no’.
Do not deny.

He is your Master
And only Savior.
The very Good Shepherd,
Your Lord and Creator.

Do not deny Him.
Do not delay.
So always press in
And don’t go astray.

Give Your Life to Jesus

The world just might appease us,
But the greater One is Jesus.
People say, “God’s a fool!
Our ways are slick and cool.”

But we say, “God is smart!
He knows how to do His part.”
So give your life to Him.
Repent and turn from sin.

Your life is in God’s hands.
He is in command.
But the choice still remains yours.
Will you open or shut the door?

The God of all creation
Gives you an invitation.
Hear the voice of Christ.
To whom will you give your life?

Out of His Love

Jesus died for every soul.
He even died for all the low.

Jesus died upon a cross,
Paying for us all the loss.

He spilled His Blood
Out of His love.

If you follow Him forever,
You and Him will never sever.

In These Last Days

In these last days of mission,
Your young men have visions,
Your children do prophecy,
And the saints also testify.

The Lord Jesus is ready to come.
The Bridegroom is very handsome.
He’s excited and ready to dine.
But the shepherds assume they’re just fine.

God sends his people to preach
His true message of holiness.
But the scoffers reject what they teach,
Saying, “That’s only foolishness!”

To the great and the small,
God says to us all,
“There simply is no time left.
Repent of your lies and your theft.”

So turn each one from your sin
And don’t you ever give in
To the schemes of the devil.
But be God’s holy vessel.

Beauty Unfading

You acknowledge the beauty I gave you from birth,
Yet your actions portray your distrust in its worth.
You’re changing my image with silver and gold.
My children, abandon these idols you hold!

You think that my focus is just on the heart
But attire contributes to all that you are.
If you will excuse every sin with My grace,
I will tell you once more, you shall not see My face.

Where is the spirit so gentle and meek?
Will a glory on earth become that which you seek?
If you knew I come NOW for a purified Bride,
You would know it is then she becomes glorified.

I can see by your ways that you doubt I am wise
As I steer you away from the Enemy’s lies.
But I’m the Good Shepherd and I know what is best.
Compromise with the world is what I detest.

The only true beauty that I recognize
Is within humble hearts that have sought no disguise
To conceal what the world would call ugly and dull.
But I make no mistakes with the big or the small.

The choice is now yours on which path you will take.
Will you cherish Me only and satan forsake?
I am jealous for you, precious people of mine.
Whom will you marry; with whom will you dine?
