Betrothed

I gladly accepted the day You proposed.
I’m wearing Your ring so that everyone knows
I belong to Another, my soul is betrothed
To the Man of my dreams, the King of all kings.

Your kisses are sweet and yet quietly sudden.
I love all Your kisses, can’t get enough of them!
How long till Your royal procession is summoned?
O, to lay eyes on You may be too much to bear.

Your Bride is awakened, donned in her gown,
Breathlessly awaiting a whisper, a sound.
The Day is upon her to lift off the ground.
What joy could be greater than marriage to Christ?

The ultimate wish of all women’s hearts
Is to marry a prince and not once be apart,
To be cherished and loved for the person we are.
The One I will marry is matchless by far!

-- Charity Lacroix

"For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin." (2Co 11:2 NASB)

"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." (2Co 1:21-22 NIV)

"If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Gal 3:29 NIV)

"My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (Joh 14:2-3 NIV)

""Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready." It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints." (Rev 19:7-8 NASB)

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless." (Eph 5:25-27 NASB)

"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body." (1Co 6:19-20 NASB)

Do You Want to Know Jesus?
“Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.’” (Mar 1:14b-15).  He preached that we must repent and believe.

Marriage Feast

For the wedding of his son
A king gave a banquet
Inviting the guests to come,
A place for all to sit

But none would come,
Not even some
He sent more invitations
But none paid attention

And so he employed
His army to destroy
Those people in turn,
Their city they burned

His servants went out
Into the street
To invite everyone
That they would meet

So they went all around,
Calling those that they found
And the hall was filled,
As the king had willed

When the king saw the guests,
A man was not dressed
In the proper attire
That weddings require

The king asked him how
To the banquet he got
Though he clearly was now
In wedding clothes not

Since the man he had asked
Was without a remark
By the king he was cast
Out into the dark

You may be appalled
But though many are called
Just a few are elected
Whom the king has selected

-- Hope Lacroix, girl, age 12

My daughter wrote this poem about the marriage feast, based on the parable Jesus told in Matthew 22:1-14. I and my other children helped her revise it, retaining the best lines and couplets of her original poem, and this was the final result produced.  You can find more devotional blogs by our daughter, Hope Lacroix at "Words of Hope."

Do You Want to Know Him?
If you want to know Jesus personally, you can. It all begins when you repent and believe in Jesus.  Do you know what God's Word, the Bible says?

“Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.’” (Mar 1:14b-15).  He preached that we must repent and believe.

The Love Story

A humble babe in swaddling cloth
Grew up to be a man.
So good was He, man liked Him not,
The holy, loving Lamb

Eventually a plot was made
To kill God’s only Son.
And so Jesus was betrayed,
Redeeming everyone.

But conquering the grave,
Jesus did arise,
Fulfilled His call to save.
Now He is alive!

He’s been waiting all these years
For His Bride to come
To a place where there’s no tears,
Of laughter, joy, and fun.

The wedding feast is set,
Everything’s in line.
The Bridegroom will soon get
His Bride after all this time.

The Father was so pleased
With His Son that Mary carried,
Who by the Spirit was conceived;
And now He’s getting married.

-- Charity, girl, age 14

When my daughter brought me this finished poem, I could see that it was very good.  The only change I made was to re-write the final stanza. I hope you were blessed by what the Lord gave her.  Here is the Scriptural basis for this poem:

"The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. (Mat 22:2)

"And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut. (Mat 25:10)

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless...This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church." (Eph 5:25-27, 32)

"Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."  (Rev 19:7)

Then he said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.'" And he said to me, "These are true words of God." (Rev 19:9)
